Overview

This node operation performs a bulk update on multiple organizations within a system. It allows users to modify various settings and attributes for a group of organizations simultaneously, which is useful for managing large numbers of organizations efficiently. Common scenarios include updating notification preferences, controlling user agent behavior, or applying changes scoped to specific organizations or managed service provider (MSP) sub-organizations.

For example, an MSP administrator could use this node to enable automatic updates for user agents across all their accessible sub-organizations or to send uninstall notifications to admin users for selected organizations.

Properties

Name Meaning
Organization Ids JSON array of organization IDs to update.
Msp Id Number representing the MSP ID; if set, the update applies to all accessible sub-organizations under this MSP, overriding individual organization IDs.
Exclude Organization Ids JSON array of organization IDs to exclude from the update.
Send Uninstall Notifications To Admin Users Boolean flag indicating whether uninstall notifications should be sent to admin users (true/false).
User Agents Auto Update Boolean flag indicating whether user agents will auto-update (true/false).
User Agent Uninstall Notification Boolean flag indicating whether uninstalling user agents should trigger a notification (true/false).
User Agent Uninstall Notification Recipient Emails JSON array of email addresses that will receive notifications when user agents are uninstalled.

Output

The node outputs JSON data reflecting the result of the bulk update operation. This typically includes confirmation of updated organizations and any relevant status messages returned by the API. The output does not include binary data.

Dependencies

  • Requires an API key credential for authenticating with the external service managing organizations.
  • The node sends HTTP requests to the service's API endpoint (https://api.dnsfilter.com as per bundled code context).
  • Proper configuration of authentication credentials in n8n is necessary for successful execution.

Troubleshooting

  • Invalid JSON in Organization Ids or Email Fields: Since some properties expect JSON arrays, malformed JSON input can cause errors. Ensure valid JSON formatting.
  • Permission Errors: If the API key lacks sufficient permissions to update certain organizations or MSP scopes, the node may return authorization errors.
  • Conflicting Parameters: Setting both Msp Id and Organization Ids might lead to unexpected behavior since Msp Id overrides organization-specific updates.
  • Network Issues: Connectivity problems to the API endpoint will cause request failures; verify network access and API availability.
  • Missing Required Fields: Although many fields are optional, ensure at least one identifier (organization IDs or MSP ID) is provided to target the update.
