Interact with CIPP API

Actions129

Overview

This node interacts with the Intune API to perform various device actions on managed devices within an organization's Intune environment. It is useful for IT administrators who need to remotely manage devices, such as rebooting, renaming, wiping, or removing devices from Intune or Autopilot. For example, an admin can automate the process of renaming a device or wiping a device that is lost or compromised.

Use Case Examples

  1. Reboot a device remotely to resolve issues without physical access.
  2. Rename a device to reflect a new user or department assignment.
  3. Wipe a device to securely erase all data before reuse or disposal.
  4. Remove a device from Intune management when it is no longer in use.

Properties

Name Meaning
Tenant Filter Specifies the default .onmicrosoft.com tenant name to filter the Intune environment context.
Device ID The unique identifier of the device on which the action will be performed.
Action The specific device action to execute, such as Reboot, Rename, Autopilot, Wipe, Remove From Autopilot, or Remove From Intune.
New Device Name The new name to assign to the device; required only when the action is Rename.
Request Options Advanced request settings including batching of requests, SSL certificate validation bypass, proxy configuration, and request timeout settings.

Output

JSON

  • actionResult - The result or status of the device action performed.
  • deviceId - The identifier of the device on which the action was executed.
  • status - The status of the operation, indicating success or failure.

Dependencies

  • Requires authentication credentials to access the Intune API, typically an API key or OAuth token.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure the Tenant Filter is correctly set to the organization's .onmicrosoft.com domain to avoid authentication or resource access errors.
  • Verify the Device ID is accurate and corresponds to a managed device in Intune; invalid IDs will cause action failures.
  • When renaming a device, the New Device Name must be provided; omitting it will result in an error.
  • Network issues or proxy misconfiguration can cause request failures; check proxy settings and network connectivity.
  • If SSL certificate validation is disabled, be aware of potential security risks and only use this option if necessary.
