Overview

This node allows you to run a script or an action on a specific device managed by the AvantGuard NinjaOne platform. It is useful in IT management scenarios where you need to remotely execute maintenance scripts, automation tasks, or predefined actions on endpoints such as computers or servers. For example, you might use this node to deploy a security patch script or trigger a diagnostic action on a device identified by its unique ID.

Properties

Name Meaning
Id The numeric identifier of the target device on which the script or action will be executed.
Additional Body Fields Optional additional parameters for the script/action execution:
- Type Specifies whether to run an "ACTION" or a "SCRIPT".
- Id Numeric identifier of the script to run (if applicable).
- Uid String identifier of a built-in action to run (alternative to script id).
- Parameters String containing parameters to pass to the script or action.
- Run As Credential role or identifier specifying under which user context the script/action runs.

Output

The node outputs JSON data representing the response from the NinjaOne API after attempting to run the script or action on the device. This typically includes status information about the execution request, any returned results, or error messages if the operation failed. There is no indication that binary data is output by this node.

Dependencies

  • Requires an API key credential for the AvantGuard NinjaOne platform.
  • The node uses the NinjaOne REST API endpoint specified in the credentials (baseUrl).
  • The node depends on the @avantguardllc/n8n-openapi-node package and the included OpenAPI specification for request construction.

Troubleshooting

  • Common issues:

    • Invalid or missing device ID can cause the API call to fail.
    • Incorrect script or action identifiers (Id or Uid) may result in errors or no action performed.
    • Insufficient permissions or invalid "Run As" credentials can prevent script execution.
    • Network connectivity or incorrect base URL configuration can cause request failures.
  • Error messages:

    • Authentication errors indicate problems with the API key credential; verify and update credentials.
    • "Device not found" or similar errors suggest the provided device ID does not exist or is inaccessible.
    • Parameter validation errors mean required fields are missing or incorrectly formatted; check input properties.
